For our Preliminary Task, Yasmin and I decided to create a short film that portrayed an awkward secondary school situation: in this case a boy is seen to be infatuated by a girl in his class, this feeling is unrequited. Both students are early for their class and so end up being forced to communicate - we tried to make this moment comic. Therefore the genre of our short piece would be a romantic comedy, aimed at a teenage audience as they may be able to relate to the situation or will find it humorous to see this situation filmed. However, the film is suitable for all ages. The film is called 'School meeting'.
We mostly focused on camera angles, camera composition, camera movement, and mise-en-scene. The areas of editing that we also concentrated on were shot transitions and continuity editing, (we have different dissolves and some straight cuts). We did not focus too much on sound, all of the dialogue, foley sound, and ambient sound was all recorded when filming the shots and so next time we will endeavour to add some sound post-production.
