Main Task Film, Pitch and Presentation

Main Task Film, Pitch and Presentation
For mine and Yasmin's Main Task Pitch Presentation, we created a Power Point and a small speech to go with it. Below the speech notes and the questions and feedback form our Pitch Presentation is the Power Point.
Pitch Presentation Speech Notes
Brief: Our fiction film genre will be horror, we aim to put our titles in the live action of our our sequence.
Moodboard: We want our film to be a psychological horror based in a gloomy setting, for example, expansive fields. The idea is to portray a isolated, trapped sense as the movie will present a female protagonist who is in a lonely and confused trance.
Locations: These are some examples of 'gloomy' settings that we are thinking about - rural British  areas; in the countryside. British countryside and weather has connotations of rain and fog which will be a naturally occurring pathetic fallacy, and set the tense and isolated atmosphere of our film sequence.
Characters: Young woman as protagonist. During the sequence the main focus will be on her to portray the idea that the whole film is about events that have happened to her.
Treatment: Dark, dim, grayscale filters and treatment - perhaps with soft focus on the setting to begin with to create a false sense of security, and then go into harder focused shots to further show the sinister location and theme.
Sound: We want to use a range of different sounds. For example, in the first few shots where we establish the setting, we would like to incorporate string instruments to create a sense of uncertainty. There will also be a voiceover for the main characters thoughts, and a heartbeat to show that the main character is tense - the heartbeat will also make the audience tense and build excitement.
Storyboard: About a woman who became mentally captured by something which causes her to have a split personality. When she is her alternate self she commits horrible crimes that she later has no recollection of.
Pitch Presentation Questions and Feedback
  • Why did you choose that setting, and where will you actually film it? Wales is renowned for being rainy, foggy and misty and so it seemed like an appropriately gloomy setting. Dartmoor was an equally appropriate setting as it's expansive moors are misty, isolated and seemingly everlasting. However, realistically, we will be filming at the Stonesfield Common as it is a nearby location, and has the appropriate space, fields and atmosphere.
  • Will your film sequence just show/include one character? Yes, but originally we thought that we would incorporate more characters into her life before she ended up alone and bloodied in a  field - however, we found that it would leave the audience in more suspense if the sequence ended saying '10 hours earlier'.
  • What has happened to the woman in your film? When we first see her she has somehow combined her split personalities and so her body moves without her consent making her commit crimes and murders whilst the voiceover lets the audience know that she does mean to do what she is doing - she is trapped inside herself due to a horrible event.
We were told that we had a good Pitch Presentation, and that; our moodboard was good, the amount of writing on the slides we had was good because we did not read off of the slides, and our preparation was good because we also has a speech and were ready to answer questions in detail.
